					SM1305 - This SM Ace serial number SM1305 has matching 
					slide.  It was inspected by Charles S. Reed (CSR).  SM1305 
					was shipped on November 25, 1940 to Springfield Armory, 
					Springfield, MA in a 100 gun shipment. 
					
					  
					 
					The initials of Major Charles S. Reed, Officer in 
					Charge of Outside Inspection, were stamped on all M1911A1 
					pistols and some Service Model Ace pistols manufactured in 
					1940-41, signifying government acceptance of the pistol.  
					His initials were stamped on the left side of the receiver 
					below the slide stop in accordance with Ordnance drawings.  
					It is also stamped on the top of the receiver near the 
					disconnector hole with a "G".  On the C.S.R. inspected 
					M1911A1 pistols, the mark near the disconnector is an "R" in 
					a circle.

					Matching serial number 1305 under firing pin stop on the 
					rear of the slide.  Notice the lower groove to accommodate 
					the lug present on the bottom of the firing pin. 
					 
					Floor place markings on the base of the two-tone magazine 
					"COLT" over "22 ACE L.R." over "SERVICE MODEL" 
					 
					Right side of two-tone magazine.  Groove for loading button 
					is diagonal, unlike the groove for the loading button on the 
					standard Ace magazine which is parallel to the body of the
